Am Donnerstag gegen 20:45 Uhr bemerkte eine Polizeistreife eine starke Rauchentwicklung aus dem Keller eines Zweifamilienhauses in der Mühlstraße. Nahezu zeitgleich hörte die allein im Haus befindliche 82-jährige Bewohnerin den Rauchmelder und stellte fest, dass ihr eine Flucht durch das Treppenhaus, infolge der starken Rauchentwicklung, unmöglich war. Die Frau begab sich auf den Balkon im 1. Obergeschoß und konnte kurz darauf durch die zwischenzeitlich alarmierte Feuerwehr über die Drehleiter gerettet werden. Die Frau blieb unverletzt. Im Keller des Hauses brannten zwei Räume aus und die Hausfassade wurde stark in Mitleidenschaft gezogen. Die Löscharbeiten waren gegen 21:30 Uhr beendet. Das Haus wurde durch den Brand unbewohnbar und die 82-Jährige kam bei Angehörigen unter. Nach ersten Schätzungen entstand durch das Feuer ein Sachschaden von etwa 150.000 Euro. Die Brandursache ist noch unbekannt. Die Feuerwehr Weinstadt war mit sechs Fahrzeugen und 29 Einsatzkräften zum Brandort ausgerückt.

On Thursday at around 8:45 p.m., a police patrol noticed heavy smoke coming from the basement of a two-family house in Mühlstrasse. Almost at the same time, the 82-year-old resident, who was alone in the house, heard the smoke alarm and realized that it was impossible for her to escape through the stairwell due to the heavy smoke. The woman went to the balcony on the 1st floor and was rescued shortly thereafter by the fire brigade, who had been alerted in the meantime, via the turntable ladder. The woman was unharmed. Two rooms in the basement of the house burned out and the house facade was severely damaged. The extinguishing work was completed around 9:30 p.m. The house became uninhabitable due to the fire and the 82-year-old found shelter with relatives. According to initial estimates, the fire caused property damage of around 150,000 euros. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Weinstadt fire brigade deployed to the scene of the fire with six vehicles and 29 emergency services.
