Ein 52-jähriger Fahrer eines Sattelzuges befuhr am Mittwochmorgen gegen 9:15 Uhr die B14 in Richtung Stuttgart. Zwischen dem Teiler B14/B29 und der Ausfahrt Waiblingen-Süd gingen im Lkw sämtliche Kontrollleuchten an, weshalb der Fahrer den Lkw auf der Bundesstraße abstellte. Als der Fahrer ausstieg, bemerkte er, dass der Lkw bereits zu brennen begonnen hatte. Kurze Zeit später befand sich das Fahrzeug bereits im Vollbrand. Die Bundesstraße musste in Richtung Stuttgart zunächst voll gesperrt werden, derzeit wird der Verkehr auf dem linken Fahrstreifen am brennenden Lkw vorbeigeleitet. Die Löscharbeiten der Feuerwehr dauern momentan (Stand 10:40 Uhr) noch an. Am Lkw entstand Totalschaden, ersten Schätzungen zufolge dürfte die Schadenshöhe am Lkw im sechsstelligen Bereich liegen. Der Lkw-Fahrer blieb unverletzt. Zur Ladung des Lkw und zur Brandursache liegen bislang keine Hinweise vor.

POL-AA: Waiblingen: Truck fire on the federal highway

A 52-year-old driver of an articulated truck was driving on the B14 in the direction of Stuttgart at around 9:15 on Wednesday morning. Between the B14/B29 divider and the Waiblingen-Süd exit, all the indicator lights in the truck came on, which is why the driver parked the truck on the federal highway. When the driver got out, he noticed that the truck had already started to burn. A short time later, the vehicle was already in full blaze. The highway had to be fully closed in the direction of Stuttgart, and traffic is currently being diverted past the burning truck on the left lane. The fire department’s firefighting efforts are currently (as of 10:40 a.m.) still ongoing. The truck was a total loss, according to initial estimates, the damage to the truck is likely to be in the six-figure range. The truck driver was not injured. There is no information yet on the truck’s load and the cause of the fire.
