Reutlingen (ots) – Brand in Seniorenheim
Zum Brand in einem Seniorenheim in der Straße Unterm Georgenberg sind die Einsatzkräfte am frühen Dienstagmorgen ausgerückt. Kurz vor drei Uhr waren Feuerwehr und Polizei durch die automatische Brandmeldeanlage alarmiert worden. Beim Eintreffen der Rettungskräfte war bereits ein Stockwerk in einem Gebäudeteil stark verraucht. Die Feuerwehr, die mit zehn Fahrzeugen und 35 Feuerwehrleuten im Einsatz war, konnte fünf pflegebedürftige Bewohner aus dem betroffenen Gebäudeteil evakuieren und den Brand im Flur des Stockwerks löschen. Während zwei Seniorinnen unverletzt geblieben waren und nach ärztlicher Untersuchung in einem anderen Gebäudeteil untergebracht werden konnten, hatte eine 82-Jährige schwere Verletzungen durch die eingeatmeten Rauchgase erlitten. Ein 86-Jähriger und eine 94-jährige Bewohnerin waren ebenfalls durch eine Rauchgasintoxikation leicht verletzt worden. Alle drei wurden vom Rettungsdienst zur Behandlung ins Krankenhaus gebracht. Das betroffene Stockwerk ist insbesondere durch den Rauchgasniederschlag derzeit nicht bewohnbar. Der entstandene Sachschaden dürfte sich ersten Schätzungen zufolge auf mindestens 50.000 Euro belaufen. Das Polizeirevier Reutlingen hat mit Unterstützung von Spezialisten der Kriminaltechnik die Ermittlungen zur Brandursache aufgenommen. Erste Hinweise könnten möglicherweise auf einen technischen Defekt an einem Elektrorollstuhl im Flur als Brandursache hindeuten. Die Ermittlungen dauern an.

The emergency services responded to the fire in a retirement home on Unterm Georgenberg street early Tuesday morning. Shortly before 3 a.m., the fire brigade and police were alerted by the automatic fire alarm system. When the rescue workers arrived, one floor in one part of the building was already heavily smoked. The fire brigade, which was deployed with ten vehicles and 35 firefighters, was able to evacuate five residents in need of care from the affected part of the building and extinguish the fire in the hallway of the floor. While two elderly women were unharmed and could be accommodated in another part of the building after a medical examination, an 82-year-old had suffered serious injuries from the inhaled smoke gases. An 86-year-old and a 94-year-old resident were also slightly injured by smoke gas intoxication. All three were taken to the hospital by paramedics for treatment. The affected floor is currently not habitable, in particular due to the smoke gas precipitation. According to initial estimates, the material damage caused should amount to at least 50,000 euros. The Reutlingen police station has started investigating the cause of the fire with the support of forensic technology specialists. Initial indications could possibly point to a technical defect in an electric wheelchair in the hallway as the cause of the fire. The investigations are ongoing.
The fire brigade and the rescue service with a total of 25 vehicles and 70 rescue workers as well as the police with several patrol cars were in action. (cw)
