Am Donnerstag kam es gegen 12:55 Uhr zu einem Brand im Maschinenraum einer Windenergieanlage an der Sythener Straße.Bei Eintreffen der Feuerwehr teilten anwesende Servicetechniker dem Einsatzleiter mit, dass sie sich bei Ausbruch des Feuers im ca. 140 Meter hoch gelegenen Maschinenraum befanden und erste Löschversuche unternahmen, bevor sie sich über eine Steigleiter ins Freie retteten.
Da von unten keine Rauchentwicklung zu erkennen war, stieg ein Team aus Feuerwehr und Servicetechniker zur weiteren Erkundung über die Leiter zum Maschinenraum auf. Parallell wurde die Höhenretter-Einheit des Kreises Recklinghausen alarmiert und eine Feuerwehr-Drohne gestartet, um auch von außen aus der Luft die Kanzel mit der Wärmebildkamera zu kontrollieren. Bei der Erkundung konnte jedoch kein Feuer mehr entdeckt werden, sodass die Einsatzstelle an den Betreiber übergeben wurde. Die inzwischen eingetroffenen Höhenretter mussten nicht mehr tätig werden. Der Rettungsdienst führte zwei Personen zur medizinischen Versorgung einem Krankenhaus zu.

During the investigation, however, no more fire could be detected, so that the scene was handed over to the operator. The height rescuers, who had arrived in the meantime, no longer had to take action. The rescue service took two people to hospital for medical treatment.
